GI/Endoscopy Services
A wide variety of diagnostic and therapeutic services for disorders
of the digestive tract are performed at the Moses Taylor Hospital
GI Lab. State-of-the-art equipment is used in the self-contained,
private suites of the gastrointestinal /endoscopy lab to view,
diagnose and treat conditions of the esophagus, stomach, and large
intestine.
Endoscopes used allow physicians to view organs directly and make and immediate diagnosis. In addition, pre-cancerous polyps of the colon may be removed during the procedure. ERCP, or endoscopic retrograde colangio pancreatography, is a procedure which diagnoses gallstones. These can then be removed with specialized equipment, avoiding the need for surgery, and allowing the patient to return home the same day. ERCP is also used to diagnose diseases of the pancreas.
Professionally trained physician specialists and the nursing staff place great emphasis on patient privacy, confidentiality and comfort.
