The Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program at Moses Taylor Hospital,
under the medical direction of Dr. John Peters, is a multidisciplinary
service which emphasizes meeting the continual pulmonary care
needs of each individual participant.
The goals of the program are to provide each individual participant
the opportunity - through exercise and education - to improve
their quality of life, enhance their awareness of their disease
process, and to reduce and control symptoms.
The components of the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program are an
initial sequence of testing, evaluation, education, and breathing
training followed by session of varied exercise. These exercise
sessions are under the guidance of a respiratory therapist and
developed according to each individual's exercise ability, medical
history, and exercise test results. The third component is the
maintenance program which is self-directed exercise with the support
of MTH staff.

Occupational Therapy at Moses Taylor Hospital helps patients increase their independence with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and eating. Another segment of the program helps increase patients functional mobility when using everyday conveniences such as a bed, tub chair or commode. Often these forms of therapy are necessary after serious physical illness, stroke or an accident.

Physical therapy is a form of rehabilitation that improves a patient's strength, walking, balance, range of motion and endurance. This is accomplished with physical methods such as passive and active exercise, massage, heat and/or cold therapy and a wide variety of techniques such as ultrasound. Muscular strength is often restored, joints and muscles retrained to improve function, pain and spasm reduced.
The Physical Therapy program at Moses Taylor also works closely with the Joint Ventures program, assisting patients who have undergone joint replacement. All therapies are individualized, focusing on human interaction and delivered in both inpatient and outpatient formats. Extended therapy hours are offered to outpatients to accommodate busy schedules.

Moses Taylor offers a comprehensive Speech Pathology Program to assist adults who suffer from the problems associated with these disorders. Working with patients having speech and language difficulties, swallowing impairment or cognitive dysfunction, licensed staff administer therapies on both an inpatient and outpatient basis.
