Moses Taylor Hospital is helping
to keep our community fit. Area residents walk their way to a
healthier body, mind and spirit with the Moses Taylor Hospital
Community Walking Program.
Every Tuesday and Thursday at 5:30 p.m. throughout the summer
months, walkers meet at the Hospital for a one mile walk in the
surrounding scenic neighborhood.
Participants
can repeat the one mile route as many times as possible within
one half hour then end up back at the Hospital for light refreshments,
health screenings and guest speakers discussing healthy
living and fitness issues.
Guest speakers for the evening provide additional information
on health and wellness. Rob Baum, a Moses Taylor employee, as
well as a karate black belt,
warmed
everyone up with the proper stretches to ensure a safe and productive
walk. Other speakers discuss diabetes, heart disease, stress management,
healthy eating and many other topics. This free program is open
to all ages. We are encouraging family members to come together,
friends and neighbors to walk with each other. Everyone walks
at their one pace and repeats the route as many times as they
want. This isn't a high pressure work-out. We want this to be
an easy, relaxing way to start good exercising habits.
